Initially built in 520 A.D., this fascinating archaeological building started its operation as a church, built in memory of St. Nicholas of Myra, a 4th-century patron saint. Here, you can explore the remains of this former church, taking yourself back in time to when the ancient city of Myra still existed. Myra Ancient City Your chance to discover Demre's most famous archaeological site! A true step back in history as you observe some of Myra's most significant ancient ruins dating as far back as the 5th century B.C. There is plenty of time to explore the two highlights of this stop: a Roman-style theater (the largest in Lycia!) and eerie rock-cut tombs carved into the cliffs above.
